There is a family that lives....however, they aren't just any ordinary struggling family. This particular family is incapable of conflict. There's not a day that goes by that this family doesn't have something to worry about or argue about or just dwell upon for unnecessary reasons. Sometimes, the problems they face are genuine and require a lot of worrying and 'debating'. However, arguing has become such a huge and normal part of their lives.....that they tend to create problems...even when there really isn't a problem to create!
In this family, everyone goes through their own fair share of shit. However, there are some who insist on making everyone elses problems their own problems. There are also some who just choose to stay quiet, neutral and as far away as they possibly can. Then there are those who just do no talk about their problems until they are forced out of them. Then come those who refuse to admit they have problems! They say things to themselves and the people around them to convince both parties that everything is ok. And when everything is not.....you know what happens....
This family was not always like this. Sure, every family has problems, but it was not until a few years back that things started to go from bad to worse. Death, financial burdens, failure, betrayal, rebellion and other things took a toll on the family. Instead of growing closer together in times of need, they often played the 'blame game' and thus, grew further apart. The simple days were left behind as most members grew to become more egocentric in their ways. Gone were the days when everyone used to be genuinely happy (of course not fully happy, but hey, very few if not nobody is fully happy). Christmases used to be merry and joyful, birthdays used to be celebrated, holiday trips were often made, religious obligations every week used to be done as a family and so on. Now....all that's left are memories of better times in the past.
The psychological impact of every fight, every argument, every disagreement and every problem, has definitely been evident in members of the family, some more than others. Some feel that they do not deserve what they have been forced to endure. They feel like they are paying for other people's stupidity and selfishness and lack of logic. Why should they have to? They cling on to bright memories of the past, only to constantly be faced with very dark present experiences. These members of the family just can't understand why the rest can't just think like them. They often predict future events/problems accurately. However, they are not taken seriously by older members of the family. The pain of having to see their predictions come through and see the other members suffer has caused them a tremendous amount of emotional trauma. Parts of them have become numb, being repeatedly forced to see what they knew would happen.
Hope; without it, every human being would have nothing to live for...All this family can hold on to is hope. Hope that the members will work out their differences and start being a family once again. Hope that the members who have betrayed the family will learn through necessary hardships and be remorseful. Hope that some members will learn to do things for themselves once in a while and not constantly think and do things for others. Hope that pride will be forgotten and humility practiced. Everyone in the family has to see how bad things have gotten, and want to change. It takes the cooperation of everyone, not just some. No more pretending, for it has only left them in a worse situation from when they started out. They should not be afraid and try to hide the problems they are facing. It only gives people false impressions and forces them to live up to the expectations and impressions of others' even more!
The people in this family need to realise how much they have and learn to be grateful. Because without it, they will always want more, leading to more disagreements and arguments. But the most important thing, is to learn to handle situations the way they should be handled. And that, takes a lot of skill.
